Weekly Writing Prompt #10
Today is April 4, the day on which George Orwell's novel 1984 famously begins. Obviously 1984 has been and gone and though Big Brother was a terrible television show, it does, in a very real way, still prevail under the more technical term of Big Data. But that's a can of worms I'm saving for the apocalypse.
If you're anything like me, you still love a good dystopian read. Here are my top five:
1984, by George Orwell (of course)
The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood
Station Eleven, by Emily St. John Mandel
The Girl with all the Gifts, by M.R. Carey
The Power, by Naomi Alderman
Using the first line from Orwell's novel, write your own dystopian tale with this weeks prompt.
